Discover Cilento

The territory

Cilento is a geographical area of Campania, at southern part of Salerno’s Province. Certainly less famous than the Amalfi Coast, the Cilento is yet to be discovered, full of intense and archaic charm: aromas of olives and cedars, flavors of a distant time.

The coast

Characterized by the continuous alternation of rough and rocky stretches to wide and sandy beaches, it is here that the Ulysse’s sirens sang, in one of the wonderful caves that make the Cilento coast a magical place full of history. Here Enea arrived, on the rocky promontory of Palinuro, here the Greeks founded the famous Paestum and Velia.
Cilento can be traveled by car also along the coast, enjoying a road overlooking the sea dotted with ancient castles and ruins or, even better, by boat, accompanied by gulls and transported by waves in caves and secret creeks. Each village has a special charm, its own beauty and its own natural or historical treasure.

Hinterland

Cilento and Vallo di Diano areas are mainly mountainous and green areas, long isolated from the main traffic flows, but of great landscape charm so much to be declared a National Park and UNESCO heritage.
These mountainous areas hide jewels of incomparable beauty: the cave of Castelcivita and the cave of Pertosa. Precious jewels of history are hidden in the mountains, witnesses of a rich and meaningful past.
The villages of the coast and those in the hinterland in summer come to life with shows and festivals where you can taste typical Cilento products
Cilento is this and much more, but above all it is a place to discover and to experience, country by country, a journey to savor slowly. A journey between sea and mountains, reality and fantasy, present and past that mix together, so much so that here in Cilento everything seems to be suspended like a postcard that tells an authentic and wonderful Italy
